2018 Norwich coach trip
Everyone had a good time on our day trip to Norwich. The sun shone, it was warm and, armed with a map and lists of things to do people scattered upon arrival.
One person hopped on and off the sightseeing bus and saw as much of Norwich as she could, having a picnic in the castle grounds. One tried her hand at bell ringing. One was meeting a friend she hadn’t seen for ages. Others visited both cathedrals and were just in time to take an hour long tour of the main cathedral. One explored the very well set up library and several more were seen diving in and out of the shops. Overall, It was a very tired but happy group that returned to Cambridge. We’d like to thank Young's Coaches Cambridge for providing the coach and a very professional driver. |

We picked Norwich because it is a wonderful mix of old and new, one complementing the other. Its centre is easy to walk around and has a river at its heart. As well as being the most complete medieval city in the UK, it has superb independent as well as High Street shopping, lively restaurants and a heritage that is a delight to explore. There is something for everybody: a large covered market ; two shopping centres ; four department stores ; boutiques & independent stores ; charity and antique shops ; lots of restaurants and cafés ; river walk ; history everywhere.
We decided to go on 15th September 2018 because that's when the country opens it's historical areas for free. Norwich has been a big supporter of the Heritage Open Days from the start, opening its museums, many churches and historical buildings, and operating tours. The Castle Museum and the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell are both quite expensive to visit so it was a good time to go.
